Terms & Conditions of JD ROBERTSON & Co Ltd 2010
When hiring vehicles legislation is the area where we must not compromise.
Our duty to our customers is to ensure that our vehicles our of the highest safety standards and likewise we must ensure our customers are fully qualified when taking one of our vehicles onto the road.
All hirers must be aged between 21 & 75.
Only drivers who have completed the necessary insurance forms may drive.
Hirers under the age of 23 must have 2 yrs driving experience and no accident or endorsement history. Drivers over 23 must have at least 1 yrs driving experience and more than 1 accident in the last 3 yrs needs insurance clearance.
Licences bearing endorsements with more than 1 speeding or parking offence may need clearance from our insurance company.
Students, HM Forces (other than officers) & minibus drivers must be 25. Students 25 - 30 need insurance clearance.
Minibus drivers must have held a licence for 2 yrs.
Paid drivers need category D1 on their licence.
Drivers of vehicles over 3.5 tons need category C1 on their licence.
All hirers must produce a current licence and another form of identification, such as a credit/debit card, passport, cheque book with guarantee card etc.
THE EXCESS MUST BE PAID FOR BY EITHER CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD.
Where a driver does not have a credit/debit card another person must pay for the hire with their credit/debit card and agree to pay any monies owing at the end of hire.
Vehicles may be taken abroad with our permission. A 25% surcharge is added. Greencard for ins & AA or RAC breakdown must also be added.
The first £500 for cars or vans up to 3.5 tons & the first £750 for trucks up to 7.5 tons and 15 or 17 seater minibuses of each and every accident involving and damage or loss to the vehicle or third party is the responsibility of the hirer. Liability can be reduced to £200 for cars and van up tp 3.5tons by paying £7 per day and trucks and minibuses by paying £10 per day.
Damage to vehicles by hitting overhead objects if the reponsibility of the hirer.
Interior damage other than caused by an accident will be charged.
1 driver allowed per hire, extra drivers added at £5 per person.
When the vehicle is used for business purposes (4 ton Box Vans, Tippers & Dropsides) an operators licence is required which is the responsibility of the hirer. When the vehicle is used for private purposes an operators licence is not required. Drives are requested to note the number of hours they are allowed to drive in any one period.
The right is reserved to vary the rates, conditions and period of rental at any time and to refuse to rent to any person without giving a reason.
Hirers are responsible for all fuel used and for call out charges for the loss of keys or running out of fuel.
A deposit of the cost of the hire, the excess and waiver if taken is requested at the commencement of the hire.
Any reasonable expenses incurred will be re-imbursed on production of a receipted invoice.
Companies who wish to arrange their own insurance cover may do so. Proof of insurance cover must be shown. We will provide details of the vehicle to be hired in advance where possible.
Rates include comprehensive insurance with an excess, maintenance & oil.
When the vehicle is to be used for towing there is an extra charge of £7 per day for cars and vans up to 3.5 tons and £10 per day for minibuses and vans up to 7.5 tons.
Vehicles are not firmly reserved until a booking deposit of £25 is paid or a credit/debit card number is given (£50 for vehicles going abroad)
All our vehicles are unlimited mileage.
